@ai6yr
Wait, your library has a vending machine for requests/hold-for-pickup?!
@NNN Yes! Outdoors "hold lockers".
You request what books/DVDs/other materials you'd like.. and in a few days/week they tell you they are available.
I use them OFTEN, because the hours of my local library are not great for me. (not open early in the morning, which is important when trying to get materials before it's 1000F due to a heatwave or whatever). It's also useful when I don't feel like braving a crowd of sniffly kids with the latest plague inside 🤪

Those look exactly like the Amazon package lockers in the lobby of my apartment building, down to the last detail. I wonder if that is what they are. In which case, ew.
@EverydayMoggie @ai6yr @NNN there's a few companies that have experimented with this sorry of thing - ideally Amazon & the library would have both bought from the same 3rd party... SF has started with something more like a traditional vending machine(not on hold) just available if you have library card at the machine
@thesquirrelfish @EverydayMoggie @ai6yr @NNN literally (heh) just saw one of these at Houston Hobby Airport last night
@grajohnt @thesquirrelfish @EverydayMoggie @NNN That's cool
