@CatherineFlick @jonty @stanto @herdingdata The hay was a revelation - so obvious with hindsight, and bales can just be left near any mud-prone areas for people to fix up the site as they go by. Brilliant!
@m @CatherineFlick @jonty @stanto can confirm that a great deal of team effort went into mud mitigation! We had teams spreading hay in strategic areas - both those which were muddy now and those which were likely to be later(i.e. the bar marquee). This started with *very strict* mandate not to drive on grass if at all possible so as to preserve it for the event. Which was a little in conflict with how many vehicles we had and how much heavy kit needed to be moved onto grass 😅
@herdingdata @m @CatherineFlick @jonty @stanto Yep, I spent an afternoon doing hay (after an industrial dose of antihistamines) - and actually quite enjoyed. Meant I could polish up on my trailer skills - despite fighting with the gearbox in the gator.
Even managed to teach the terminally Californian @r how to reverse a trailer, having never done it before! It was so nice to be able to share and teach skills, and realising that we all have our own areas of knowledge.
@CatherineFlick @blue annoyingly I can confirm that my hayfever was acting up before we even started operation mud mitigation! There was a time during setup when we were all squelching about in wellies and we couldn’t possibly DREAM that dust might become a problem in a few days
@herdingdata yeah I felt really bad because I was sneezing and coughing and I’m sure people thought I was horribly infectious with something 😭 I knew it was hayfever (feels very different from a cold!) but I couldn’t really hang a sign around me! 😭
