@cmconseils And even this is wrong. In our current system they start installing spikes on the bench if they think homeless people use it.
@cmconseils not
@cmconseils And it's even worse when you realize that the real reason they hate subsidized and public housing is because it devalues land and properties (by reducing demand), and owning land is basically the only real "power" that you can have in the US anymore if you're not a millionaire.
@cmconseils An ugly simplification.
@cmconseils You also could come up with these pictures:
The stories I hear from Russian emigrees is that they built a wave of them under Stalin then never allowed anyone's kids to move out. Instead of building more they just made women move into their husband's family's apartment.
@cmconseils oldie but goldie.
@cmconseils In the form of " #socialism " which is implied by these #soviet -style barracks, systematic vagrancy and failure to be employed (vilified as "social parasitism") were criminal offenses. So yes, the dudes could have got a place in anti-homeless architecture unit, but there was a chance that it would be equipped by bars, barbed wire, and receptionists with assault rifles...
I live in an ex-communist country and can confirm the above statement. There were no sick/homeless/minority people because they were conveniently genocided away.
You couldn't even get to live within a city you wanted to unless you got a residency permit.
People got assigned to cities/towns/villages.
The high-density residential in planned districts was reserved for the 'right' people. True to the party and well-connected.
Contrary to the above, the west needs to wake up to the fact that you cannot both renounce high-density planned residential, and have affordable housing.
The leftover planned high-density complexes here have greenery, parks, kindergartens, schools, shops, effective and cheap public transport, and are close to the city centre.
And the communist-era nomenclature is dead or dying, so normal families are finally getting to inhabit the buildings.
