If you’re a psychologist, psychology professor, student of psychology, etc, please consider signing this letter demanding APA reverse its decision to suspend diversity requirements for accreditation in training programs and internships: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSetao51VunB-Z0lCKGzHhxF8syAHCnClTJCATYizGUOKZXNDg/formResponse
@dramypsyd
American universities are not credible. If you want an education, attend university in a free country.
@dramypsyd Thanks for sharing! Can I ask, is this your letter? I don’t see any info on the form about who is collecting the signatures.
@dramypsyd I signed as a disabled person who isn’t and probably never will be part of the APA. The demonization of DEI initiatives hurts not just people with darker skin and the LGBTQIA community but also disabled people. Capitulating will compromise care for all of us who find ourselves in one or more of those boxes.
This breached containment (good, more signatures) and now some people want to explain why APA's choices to roll back diversity requirements are good, actually (bad, why are you talking to me, go away), so I'm muting the thread.
@dramypsyd I'll definitely sign it since my family has a BG in psych
@writermissyo Thank you!! They need external pressure in addition to psychologists speaking up (and I am truly worried not enough psychologists are mad about this to make a difference)
@feelnotes No problem! I didn't create it, it was another psychologist, but my understanding is they didn't want to make themselves the center of it so they left the name off
@dramypsyd of course, makes sense! Thanks for the info
