Things spotted on a very rainy market day in small city Aotearoa #newzealand
A man (60s?) standing under bakery truck awning speaking to another man: "Yeah the honey's good here. But did I tell you about the secret militia?"
Other man nods thoughtfully, buys a garlic loaf.
Numerous small humans standing around a puddle of spilt milk in the rain. Debating how the milk got spilt and whether or not they'll get away with jumping in it. Oldest one (5ish?) does. Seems to immediately regret decision.
A couple in their 60s having a coffee. She's talking animatedly. He's staring into space.
Her. (Stops talking): "John? John? John?! JOHN?!"
He blinks: "What?"
Her: "Are you listening?"
Him: "Yeah" in offended tone.
Her: "Then what did I say?"
Him: "John."
A man (40sish) walks up to counter in cafe and orders an Earl Grey tea with tea on the side.
Numerous Kiwis walking around in shorts, T-shirts and Crocs despite the rain, cold weather and more rain. Completely impervious. Obviously possessing super powers.
(Any typos spotted in this post have been caused by the horror movie this author watched last night before going to bed. What is sleep? Where does sleep happen? Not in my house when monsters might be in my cupboards, under my bed and lurking in the loo.)
