Light rain and cloud meant a few more moths (and a bumble bee!) came out to play at 'Chez Mothman' last night.
Still no real species diversity yet, but, compared to last year, #moth numbers seem encouraging. May/June/July will tell for sure.
First sighting in 2025 of the very unfairly named CLOUDED DRAB. Yes, he's plain, but undeserving of such an unflattering moniker.

@hastingsmothman do you have any guides on constructing a moth box? I tried digging around online but results were hopelessly plagued with insect traps containing biocides which is the exact opposite of what I want.
@gsuberland am just out at moment, but will DM some info later today. Ready made kits available for beginners around £150 but if you are practical any box/bucket with with funneling baffles or funnel, egg boxes and actinic or LED lights will do. Will send more info later
@hastingsmothman thanks. definitely don't have that kind of budget, but I've got ply/MDF/acrylic in stock and access to a hackspace with a laser cutter and a ton of other tools, and tons of LEDs of every variety and then some, ranging from tiny IR ones through to 1200lm CRI98 3500K CoB LEDs.
