Back on my servo bullshit again: I found a brushless servo that was under £30 so I thought I'd have a go to see if it might be a #penplotter option for increased durability
It has more firearms on it than I'd like (which is to say it has some, I'd like zero) and will require some careful consideration to power it; while I don't believe most of the claimed specs I do believe the terrifying stall currents

I'd be interested to know how loud it is when you do get it going.
@jarkman the videos I've seen of them seem to show it being no louder than a new good quality servo - I always found they get louder with age. Based on the (metal) drive gear spares that came in the box it seems to have helical teeth so I'm hopeful for it being reasonably quiet
@jarkman I've just tested it on 7V under no real load (using a generic buck converter that says it can do 2A) and I can report that it's fairly quiet. I can hear the geartrain whirring but it is a clean whir, not a grindy whine. Even under these not ideal power supply conditions I hurt my finger trying to stop it moving. Compared to a generic metal gear micro servo it's noticeably quieter and subjectively also a nicer noise
@jarkman it has terrifying claimed peak torque levels that I don't believe but the gearbox does seem to be designed reasonably consistently with that. It also claims to have a magnetic encoder for position which I'm hopeful for being true
