From time to time I see this pointless back and forth about why someone would identify as an atheist if their position is not “God does not exist.” There’s this idea that agnosticism is the only neutral position and some will even say things like “atheism is a belief just like theism.” This is usually an intentional obfuscation of the real issue: that theists are the ones making a claim that cannot be demonstrated or falsified.
