@Edent Geolocation falls under the GDPR, so it will need to be approximated based on anonymised data. CCPA has a similar clause, but is opt out, I believe. So anonymising the data would give a Mastodon instance operator extra responsibility, like getting the user's permission to process their location, safeguarding it, and provide it as anonymous data to third parties (the API users).

It's no different from attaching a selfie.
