Found a very ancient (2011) Samsung Netbook shoved in a drawer. It's inevitably getting Minted
@pikesley I 9fronted one
(There are certainly better computers for doing that, mostly just from a middle mouse button and screen resolution standpoint, but eh, it's a laugh)
@pikesley My wife's old 2012 Macbook Pro runs Debian 12 acceptably. It's radically slow to start but usable after that.
Had an Asus variant of one of those. Single core as most of them, but mine was dual threaded, which helped a lot. And I think I could bump it up to at least a couple of gigs of memory.
Had to find a specific version of Mint since it was 32bit. But it worked surprisingly well considering the specs!
@pikesley If you find it to be too slow, maybe give MXLinux Fluxbox a try, I've installed that on a 1 GB atom netbook and found it to be quite useable!
@pikesley I run the even older/slower n110 on Debian with the lxqt desktop. It's surprisingly snappy, so long as you stay offline.
@pikesley I am running the same machine with Debian LXDE. Still not fast - but 2011 was slow, wasn't it?
@pikesley try Bodhilinux. That needs less than 1 gig.
