Does the Fediverse have the capacity for private groups?
Asking because I'm in some Facebook groups for therapists (resource sharing, general support, not private client info!) and many are looking to ditch Meta finally but are struggling to find alternatives.
Basically needs to be a closed community that can be moderated.
Take the easy way out. Just install "Element X", a free Matrix client, on your phone, desktop or more to protect your client's privacy with fully encrypted communications, groups, chat, VoIP, file sharing and more.
Do _not_ use Discord or any other commercial communication platform for medical communication. European governments, militaries and ordinary citizens use Matrix. It is open source and covers a wide range of features for secure, real-time communication. There are lots of other good features, but that would be too much for now.
Although Mastodon is great for sharing public information and a friendly place to hang out, it doesn't (yet) encrypt communications as required and the groups feature is still in development.
