Doing some formalising of some mentorship for web developers, and I would like to ask you:
What are the fundamental concepts and foundational skills (not just technical) that a mid level web developer must understand to be solid in their job?
If it helps, the devs in question work mostly with JavaScript, CSS, HTML and Vue.js
@james This question sounds very familiar - here's what we came up with in my org (copy-pasted from our IC Ladder guidelines - part 1/2):

- Gaining proficiency in all relevant technical areas
- Has solid understanding of large portions of services and systems
- Consistently follows best practices
- Provides helpful, timely code reviews and technical feedback
- Contributes to technical proposal writing and reviewing
- Uses a systematic approach to debug issues
*Execution*
- Commits to and completes tasks within expected time frame
- Estimates methodically
- Reviews tasks critically and ensures they’re appropriately sized
- Proactive about potential issues and tech debt
- Understands how people use the products and services they build

- Contributes to documentation of systems
- Contributes to discussion around complex issues
- Works with teammates effectively to solve problems and make decisions
- Trusted to always share updates and proactively remedy communication issues

- Involved in hiring and provides clear and timely feedback on candidates
- Identify and advocate for improvements in their domain
- Motivates and empowers teammates to achieve

- Gives constructive feedback to others and trusts them to decide to what extent to incorporate it

- Intentional about career and growth
@james In terms of mentoring, for me it actually helped the most to take a look at the expectations for the next step (senior dev in your case) and figure out the aspects in which your mentee is still falling behind.
