Been on my daily stomp early today because it’s going to get stupid hot later. Even at 6.30am there were a surprising amount of people milling around. It’s weird how we take buses and stand in queues and do many other things silently and Britishly, but if you pass someone when out walking it seems almost obligatory to say “morning” to strangers as you pass each other.
@solderandchaos I think there's extra rules though - like it's only obligatory to say hello to the first person in a group, and very strange to say hello to someone when you're within sight of a car park.
@yaxu @solderandchaos there's also an excursion zone within any city centre
@yaxu @solderandchaos the extra clusters of people/climbers/turds that you see within sight of the car park are what i call the "popular end effect" (named after Stanage). And you're right, there are indeed extra rules.
@solderandchaos @drj I think it's awesome that there's more diversity now though, it was very white pre-covid. Having more people in the countryside is good overall. The levels of littering during lockdown were awful but have improved a lot since I think. It's a bit annoying how the University has promoted specific areas to students though - specifically Bamford Edge which seems to get mobbed by them.
@grahamdunning @yaxu very true!
