I’m Arija A., more commonly known as Ari Archer and welcome to my corner on the Fediverse where I screech autistic ramblings into your ear until I get tired :)
I am an autistic & transgender 17-year-old avid open source developer as well as a wannabe systems administrator coming from Lithuania who has spent more than half her life bossing computers around :’) currently I’m mainly focusing on the C and Python programming languages as well as some FASM Assembly here and there whereever applicable, though I don’t have much to show when it comes to extremely low level programming, I can do it when needed, but am in no way an expert. My fiery passion for technology is deeply intertwined with my values of democracy, freedom, shareability, and customization.
Personally, I enjoy solving practical problems, although, that doesn’t mean I like to be a number processing machine 24/7 like people like to think. I find those problems exhausting and extremely boring, sadly, it is currently my fate at school since the education system doesn’t have much to offer for people beyond the programme :( I tend to be very dissatisfied with governments and government stated overstructured and outdated systems such as the education and legal systems, I don’t believe that I identify with the label “anarchist” but more of “politicians need a reality check and I can’t believe that people can be this stupid sometimes” xD, of course, it’s not all bad, but sometimes it’s oof.
Most of my work centres around libraries, back-end web development, as well as software and tools. I'm brand new here, so an #introduction is a good idea:
I'm a freelance tech writer / software developer / KM project manager based in Europe. Digitally, I was born in the 90s. So I grew up eating cyberpunk books, BBSs, home computers, hacking, then the first doses of Internet and the Web.
In the 90s and the first 00s I developed my (ahem) "philosophy": digital spaces are (can be, should be) autonomous zones where different cultures, and sub/counter-cultures, can thrive.
These are the years of the enshittification of Internet, but it can't rain forever (cit.) and I see the Fediverse as a new opportunity for some of us to recreate better and safer digital spaces.
That's the "vision". Than there's the daily life: I write code (awful, mostly), help companies in managing their knowledge bases, write technical documentation, sometimes write tech articles for (mostly unknown) business tech manazines.
In the spare time, I tinker with Linux, Risc-V boards and "old" languages like Forth, Assembly and C (but I'm a fan of Haskell too). I'm convinced that permacomputing and, maybe, collapse computing are our digital future. So, "back to basics" seems a good idea.

I’m Alex, better know as Axman6 pretty much everywhere you can think of - IRC (libera.chat#haskell etc.), 🦤 site, probably LinkedIn and others too.
As far as jobs and hobbies are concerned, I’ve been a professional #Haskell developer for nearly a decade, with various roles in finance and #HFT (despite not really having much of an interest in finance…), in the public sector where I worked on much of the #RenewableEnergy parts of https://nationalmap.gov.au at #NICTA & #CSIRO, writing backend services in Haskell, doing lots of #geospatial data processing, #SQL, #DevOps and much more.
Previously writing #Daml, a dialect of Haskell, for a large financial system. Currently working for a Canberra based startup making scientific test and measurement equipment using #FPGAs, #python & #C.

Last week I presented my paper at SecDev on the impact #Rust has vs. #C++ on the probability of a vulnerability being introduced by a first-time contributor to a project—and therefore, how easy it is for newbies to get contributions merged. The full paper is available here:

but the tl;dr is: Rust significantly lowered the number of vulnerabilities introduced, especially from new contributors, and increased the quantity of new contributors to projects.
I started programming in 1982. Though I'm known as a #Perl developer, I tried to remember every other language I've programmed in.
