Anybody have experience fixing an oven's switchboard? It's a first for me so I'm trying to make sure we aren't getting ripped off.
ETA - it's a Samsung and it's electric, if that matters

@dramypsyd If a new oven is cheaper, you're probably being played.
@dramypsyd I just asked my electronics Nerd-In-Residence.
They state: "It's either something very simple, or very terminal. Moisture on the board, loose wire, etc etc. Have someone visit and do a poke. It shouldn't cost too much for that.
"If it's an expensive part (likely on back-order also), I'd advise a viking funeral and a shopping trip."
They were rather unequivocal about this.
@dramypsyd There is an evil method manufacturers have of dealing with repair parts. These parts become more and more rare and thus more expensive. The cost often times exceeds any reasonable price for said part. A part that when new would cost $50, after 3-4 years is often $125, then by 6-7 years it's $250. After that, as someone else said, it's time to shop for a replacement. And appliance repair firms, in the US charge $75-125 to come to your house, plus about $100 an hour for labor.
@AndyIncarnate How much do ovens cost because Google is like "You can get an oven for $500 or $5,000" and I'm like that's quite the range
@dramypsyd @AndyIncarnate If you have a local place that gets appliances with minor cosmetic damage, you can save a lot - we got our oven for like half price, because the drawer at the bottom where you keep the frying pans had a small dent in it from the box I guess being bumped in transit.
@dramypsyd I suppose I would check the oven I have (I've only just bought a new place) and then compare what I have with what's available for a like-for-like replacement. We don't have a heritage range cooker or anything though. If you've got something like an Aga range, then you'd need to get someone who deals with those, which shouldn't be too specialised I'd guess?
@dramypsyd @AndyIncarnate no, a range is the bit on top you out pans on to cook things. What you’re talking about is an oven, that’s the big box that gets hot.
@dramypsyd @AndyIncarnate I assume you mean a wall oven, or do you mean an entire range (oven + cooktop in one appliance). I bought a wall oven a couple months back and the low end was 1200is around me with no apparent upper limit on what I could spend.
@mhkohne @AndyIncarnate I was trying to find the whole thing (cooktop and oven), and actually Husband pointed out that the $500 option I found is just the range which is why it was so cheap and this is why I need help with these things, I do not know what I am doing
@dramypsyd @AndyIncarnate and in penance for that awful pun, yes, ovens and all other kitchen bits have a wild price range. Unless you’re really into cooking you probably don’t need to spend more than a few hundred.
