@itsOasus I saw some organisation saying if the user was suspected of being under 18, they could verify their age for a small fee by providing a verification token (a bottle of gin) from a trusted third party with established age verification protocols (the off-licence)
A system where we could go to places like liquor stores or post offices and get them to co-sign facts based on an ID -- such as age -- to an online user account, might not be a bad idea.
With an intermediary service, phones and QR codes and with appropriate hashing of signing requests and ID details, it should be possible to make a system that's easy to use, and where the cosigners don't know the website and the website learns only the cosigned fact.
@skjeggtroll @jackeric @itsOasus both Google and Apple have systems like that based on their mobile wallets in development but the UK government being the UK government decided that would make sense and pushed on with the current piss poor solution instead.
