I spent a little of time reading the Dune Fandom page and this provides a lot more context and information about some of the things I thought made literally no sense.
Villeneuve basically took every single characters recorded motivation out of the script. To the highest degree.
@james this is very true, I put it down to the book’s communication of those aspects being long passages in which characters introspect on themselves, or excerpts from the Princess Irulan’s many histories of what happened, both of which are not going to make a great film.
@jon I definitely understand why it was a struggle, but also think this film simply shouldn’t have been made if they could not find a way
