Our current technology level as a species is sufficient that we could build the Star Trek communicators & comms badges exactly as designed in the show SUPER-easily. We already have all the ingredients:

✅ Good voice recognition tech
✅ Global communications network
✅ Very small and efficient hardware

Why has nobody done this yet? Is it so much to ask? I WANT TREK COMMUNICATORS!

@jon I’m mostly sad that telecoms has had basically very little innovation for decades now, the possibilities are ENDLESS and yet all we managed to improve is adding voip.
