I have a #PCEngines APU4 machine with an external m.2 in a USB encase. It used to boot from it, but not anymore. I used to use a USB stick to boot with some #GRUB + #Linux + initrd ISO image, but can't remember which.

Tried several ISOs (gparted, grml, debian installer, others). Many are not even detected by the (#UEFI less) SeaBIOS 1.12.0.1 (see pic), and the few that do can't be told to boot from another disk.

Need to find or create a BIOS bootable disk, docs and help appreciated.

@mdione APU4s don’t really do UEFI in my experience, you want an MBR based boot image. Last I needed to get one to boot from USB this guide helped: https://teklager.se/en/knowledge-base/installing-ubuntu-over-serial-console-apu-board/

If the serial console is enabled you should be able to trigger a boot menu with (from memory) F12 to set boot order.

@jon it's not that "don't really do UEFI", they plain don't do EUFI at all :) So I guess part of my "I don't detect your disk or USB sticks" problem is lack of support of BIOS/legacy booting. What I need is help creating such an image. I guess that instead of writing random ISOs I'll end up creating a real disk with MBR partitions and grub + kernel in it. I guess I was going for the easy way out :)
