@jonathanhogg Welcome to the club. Until recently I only needed my second pair for playing the piano, but now I use them a lot on the computer as well. If you count my very short-sighted uncorrected vision which I often use when working on electronics I guess I effectively have three levels of correction to choose from.
Excitingly, the overlap between the two pairs of varifocals is laptop-screen distance. So I now get the fun of figuring out which pair is more comfortable for programming, with each requiring me to hold my head at a slightly different angle…
@alphabetter It was the taking-my-glasses-off-to-solder that was driving me mad! Since I can't see more than a few centimetres, I'd have to put them back on again immediately. So I now have a bench pair that does laptop-screen to right-in-front-of-my-face.
@jonathanhogg I just go for the “peer over the top” approach like a proper Professor Branestawm.
@jon Sad news! The first time you put on a pair of varifocals is a real headfuck. Unfortunately, one pair of varifocals no longer covers the distance for me…
