Just got up to see who was playing techno in a car outside the house.
It was our dishwasher. I've danced to worse.

@jonty At the moment if I read that Whirlpool had bought React records I wouldn’t be surprised.
@jonty made me think of this...
@jonty
I was once absolutely sure I could hear M.I.A.'s "Paper Planes" coming from the basement at work. It turned out to be a malfunctioning air conditioner.
@jonty I once knew a clothes washing machine that could play an excerpt of Schubert’s “Die Forelle”.
@jonty @clive ROBERT Hughes, the Australian art critic, filmmaker and writer, wandered into the kitchen of his fashionable loft home in New York’s SoHo to see how the plumber was going, setting up his new dishwasher.
On his knees grappling with the machine, the plumber heard a noise and looked up.
Hughes gasped: “My god, you’re Philip Glass. I can’t believe it. What are you doing here?”
Glass, one of the world’s most famous composers, said afterwards: “It was obvious that I was installing his new dishwasher, and I told him I would soon be finished.”
“But you are an artist,” Hughes protested.
Glass said: “I explained that I was an artist but that I was sometimes a plumber as well, and that he should go away and let me finish.”
This phenomena has to have a name.
I listened to a pretty good rock-reggae song coming from a resort across the water.
And only got suspicious when the song went on for +15 minutes.
Went to look. It was the sound of many little breaking waves.
@jonty Every time I hear about a "musical appliance" I'm reminded of this:

@jonty @BillySmith be more careful to put your car keys where the dishwasher can’t reach them, in future!
@fivetonsflax @clive This is incredible, how did I not know this
@jonty I had an MRI a while back. Sounded like living downstairs from an industrial/techno club.
@jonty I'm now envisioning a dishwasher playing Darude's Sandstorm on cycle completion, and I am digging it.
@Chrisblue @jonty They didn't give me a choice - everybody gets earplugs plus big headphone ear defenders. Otherwise I'm sure it would have been like having my head inside a speaker in an industrial/techno club.
@Plumbert @Chrisblue First time I had an MRI I found it so relaxing I fell asleep. Lovely.
