Is sqlite pronounced sequel-lite or s-q-l-lite?
@mariatta
S-Q-lite is what i say but apparently it was thought to be S-Q-L-ite (but the author don't really care) https://stackoverflow.com/questions/49655034/what-is-the-official-pronunciation-for-sqlite#49656730
"I don't care how you pronounce it ... you call it anything you want” 😆
@mariatta i'm sure i saw something official years ago saying it's "S-Q-L-ITE… you know, like the mineral".
@mariatta Close to the former, but not quite: "SEE-kwuh-lite'
The 'L' isn't doubled in the name, so I figure it shouldn't be doubled in the pronunciation
If they wanted it pronounced like a word, they should have spelled a word.
The originators of SQL *want* me to pronounce it like a similarly-spelled word, but that's an unreasonable request.
More seriously: if I say a word, by default people can be expected to hear the way that word is normally spelled. So if I want to be understood clearly, I have no choice but to spell it out if it's spelled differently. Which is true for SQL.
