in which scotrail seems to ban mobile phones
@q Uh... what about pacemakers, hearing aids and so on? Is this not violating some foundational laws?
@q What about the little handheld scanners they use to check tickets? What sort of batteries do they have?
@q From an electronics perspective I'm pretty sure there are power regulators in all those devices so they would appear to be regulated yes
If not would adding a 7805 fix it 8)
@q So ScotRail also forbids the train to be on the train, if it is a modern Battery/Electrified train
Google is giving me nothing, but I'd hazard a guess that mobiles and cameras etc are covered by battery regulations - as the poster specifies unregulated batteries?
@q I've seen this and heard of ebike users being pissed off, but wondered, what do they do when someone has an electric wheelchair or mobility scooter?? Do they ask what type of battery it has? (breaching disability access laws if they did say no to board, of course).
@q I mean, so it shouldn't - you can self-certify. But that's really the only kind of "regulation" I can imagine they are referring to here. UL? Specific ENs? What else could they be talking about? Or is it just textual cover for "whatever we say"? I'd guess the latter.
@q Yeah 100%. I'd have more respect if they just said that lol. It does indeed appear to prohibit mobile phones, smartwatches, headphones, etc.
@dascandy42 @q They are all regulated.
@krans @dascandy42 but that’s not what it says, it says no litithum ion devices, including unregulated ones
@JohnEastLothian @krans @dascandy42 “this includes”
@q @JohnEastLothian @krans @dascandy42 Exactly!
