duckduckfedi: recommendations for an android phone to buy for I just need to test things on not iOS for not too much money
@q
It kinda depends on whether you need the latest Android version being stock or are fine with updating via a custom rom (e.g. LineageOs) but if it's just for testing and maybe the version doesn't even matter I recommend just getting a used one which released in the last 5 years or so.
(I personally never bought a new Android phone even as my main one but I always run custom roms to get updates after the manifacturers stopped support. The modell I'm using right now is 6 years old)
@q i think the Nothing cfm phones are pretty decent in terms of pricing and modern-ness. With PlayStore and Google Services but without other bloat. use one of these for testing purposes myself.
@q Moto G has always been my go to Android test device. Not utterly unusable, but crap enough you get the true £30/month including the phone Android user experience.
@q I have a Samsung galaxy a40 with a cracked screen or a nexus 6 both are probably not running the latest android officially. I'd give them away for free. Interested?
@q Do we have to order a NFC reader to accept contactless Q-Pay vouchers at Mega-Knowledgecamp? 🙃
@q I mean… it definitely would have style, and I bet no one would notice if one or two 2log-thingies leave H'eck for a few days
