I'm using https://www.freshrss.org/ which is self hosted and basically fine.
Looks a bit like G-Reader from what I remember.
@Edent @CatherineFlick +1 for FreshRSS. It also exposes a Google Reader compatible API so you can use clients that work with that. I have FreshRSS running on a server and NetNewsWire consuming the feeds.

Yes! I finally found something useful and "self-hosted" with install and set-up instructions simple enough for me to follow (although it still took some trial and error and 10 times longer than someone who knew what they were doing would.)
