Absolutely adore the TAPO smart plugs ‘this firmware update will not affect the power status, it’s very very safe’
OK ok. You would always previously be shit at this…
Why are all the things off? ⚡️⚡️

I even shutdown the home proxboxen, and it's super hangry fusion-io card...
It always wants warm reboot after anything these days...
The boxen that had the $oldjava that would work with the iKVM, no longer wants to play.
I COULD go to the home office where the rack is likely screaming, but where is the fun in that.
Can't administer lights or any apartment functions until outage resolved. Kinda an incentive to fix.
@an0key I bought a set of 6 that said "can disable relay" only to discover that it's meaningless because firmware updates still toggle the damn relays
@gsuberland oh I do like the 'these are devices of last choice, failed, it needs a hard reboot'
They're all blocked at the fw, so dumb most of the time anyways. They did roll an update that was supposed to allow local access but... yeah.
I have but a single Tapo plug and am not happy with it at all. For all these reasons.
Same hardware, slightly different enclosure to the AThom plugs and they can come preflashed for Tasmota, ESPhome, etc and even have a “no relay” variant I use on my fridge to keep track of its power usage.

@futuresprog @gsuberland for me esphome comes with HA, which comes with 'not allowed in current apartment, rebuild pre-req is moving'....
@an0key @futuresprog @gsuberland ESPHome can be persuaded to do normal MQTT or whatever other exotic protocol is needed. Also ESPHome support implies being a reflashable device so just fling whatever on it.
@jon @gsuberland @futuresprog CLOSED - WONTFIX - shhhhhhhhhhhhhhh already... lalalalala
